Mike MacKinnon

Hello, my name is Mike MacKinnon. I am a recent graduate of the Denver School of Massage Therapy. My interest in bodywork began during my undergraduate studies at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. While there I was enrolled in their Physical Therapy program and was able to take advantage of two clinical internships at Physical Therapy facilities. I left Ithaca with a B.S. in Clinical Science and soon after moving to Denver I enrolled at DSMT. While there I was instructed in and performed various modalities ranging from relaxation techniques to deep tissue work.

As a result of my experiences I enjoy seeing how massage can positively influence range of motion and play a crucial role in restoring the body to its highest function. Due to this I have thoroughly enjoyed working with clients in Steamboat; everyone has shown unparalleled enthusiasm for succeeding in what they enjoy, be it work, sports, or outdoor adventures. This attitude is crucial to ones continued health and my role as a therapist compliments this positive outlook. By effectively recognizing potential issues, performing therapeutic work, and sharing knowledge about these issues I can help my clients achieve their goals.

Although new to the Yampa Valley, I am already a huge fan of the numerous hiking, biking, and camping opportunities that are right around the corner. In addition, I am very excited to continue my skiing lessons up on the mountain this winter. Aside from outdoor activities I have been playing volleyball since high school and look forward to playing in the local leagues, I am already impressed by the competition I faced playing in VOTR (Volleyball of the Rockies) tournaments. It truly is a pleasure to be entering into such an amazing community.
